This is not just MY campaign page; this is OUR call to action as a community....
My name is Kat Rios and I need your help to save our city.
I am not your average
politician, I’m very much new to this, but I know where to start.
My work starts here, in Assembly District 6.
I am simply looking to provide the voice that speaks for all of us as a whole, my neighbors and local businesses within District 6. My battle born roots are three generations deep and District 6 is my childhood stomping grounds. I lived on section 8, survived with food stamps, attended the schools, participated in the Parks & Recs programs, and as a young adult I even vacationed at the all-inclusive CCDC. I genuinely understand your struggles because I experienced them too. This is why I have decided to be the change I want to see.
CHILDREN: small people we take care of who will grow and eventually end up caring for us. I'm just going to say what everyone else is thinking-with the education system failing children, I'm terrified at the thought that one day I may have to rely on some of these young people myself! There are only 2 states that rank lower than Nevada in education and this is unacceptable! When laws have to be passed to protect the children from classroom discussions of a sexual nature- There is a problem here! Muting gender roles and dividing students by color are a great way to distract the community from real issues like child safety and food insecurities.
ADULTS: full grown people that either help the situation or they are the situation. This group of individuals are the most important because they are actively shaping the world around us. We have such a diverse collection of ethnicities, and we are all stuck in this together. So, in reality, the choice is clear: do we want to continue on the path back to segregation, where there will always be a portion of people that are at a greater disadvantage? Or do we want to live out the dream of a famous Doctor who is celebrated every February? The pandemic has rocked the mental health of the entire nation and now it is bleeding us financially as a residual effect. This is a very critical moment in time and how we move forward from this point will literally make or break our society.
SENIORS: the brave people that came before to show us the way. The race is over, and they have passed the torch but not before building a sustainable infrastructure for us to build from. Between the plandemic and technology this is our most vulnerable group of citizens. We need to check in on them and make sure they are safe and healthy. I would like to set up an advocacy and resource center, not only for this age group but for all age groups.
If you share these same concerns then let's work together on the issues affecting our community and let the battle of politics happen elsewhere, in Washington D.C. Meanwhile we will be here working on our community and making life better for the citizens of
Assembly District 6.
